Originating from Eden, North Carolina, and currently based in Los Angeles, Travis Stewart,better known as Machinedrum, is a prolific music producer, film composer, and electronic musicpioneer. With a vast discography under renowned labels such as Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, andLuckyMe, Travis has produced hits for artists like Tinashe, Azealia Banks, and A$AP Ferg,among others. He has further enriched his profile through collaborative projects like J-E-T-Swith Jimmy Edgar and Sepalcure with Braille (PraveenSharma).

Instrumentalists such as Tigran Hamasyan and Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders) have found apartner in Travis for innovative ventures. In the remix realm, he’s transformed tracks fromdiverse artists like Solange, Bonobo, and even Johnny Cash. Asa film composer, Travis madesignificant contributions to notable works like the German true-crime drama “Dark Woods”andthe upcoming feature documentary on Ashima Shiraishi.

Travis’s musical journey began in his early years. Encouraged by a musically inclined family, hedeveloped a passion for diverse rhythms and electronic music. By high school’s end, theMachinedrum project was born, leading to his debut release “Now You Know” in 2001 on MerckRecords. College saw him dive deeper into audio engineering, post which he associated withlabels like Normrex, crafting tracks for talents like Tiombe Lockhart and Theophilus London.

Machinedrum’s albums such as “Room(s),” “Vapor City,” and “Human Energy” have defined hisevolving sound. His recent works, including the album “A View of U,” garnered significantattention, notably with a live performance alongside Daito Manabe. 2022’s ambient project”elysian” under the tstewart alias speaks to his versatile creativity, linking an album, app, and aheartfelt tributeto his daughter. In collaboration with Holly, they released their epic “天の川(River of Heaven)” EP on Vision Recordings.

An acclaimed performer, Travis has graced stages at iconic venues like Red RocksAmphitheater and festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella, and Wakaan.
